This shoe fits large: consider a smaller size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits large to size; if you sometimes have to go down a size, it is more likely that you may need to go down a size with this style.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All US sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Sizing & Fitting Help

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

An absolute joy to wear

An absolute joy to wear. I have had issues with my feet for several years after having surgery in my twenties to correct hammer toes. Unfortunately my other foot has followed suit and I have hammer toes on that one too. However I do not want to have surgery on those in case it creates more problems in future. Finding a decent pair of shoes has been next to impossible. The Freet Tanga have been a revelation honestly. A perfect summer shoe that exceeds all expectations. I tried barefoot once before, having read about how they promote healthy alignment and strengthen feet. A nice experience though I picked up a basic unbranded model. They were never going to be the solution but I liked the concept and looked at the brands. Freet caught my attention and I am glad it did because I am over the moon with them. Straight out of the box, they were brilliant: comfortable, fitted well and felt for all intents and purposes, like someone had taken my feet and given them a great big warm hug. Seriously impressed by Freet. I did change the laces, but that's just a personal preference. I love the fact they're made from recycled coffee grounds too. I mean...COFFEE....in shoes...how cool is that! Anyway, great sustainable approach, super comfy shoes and for me, a godsend. I have worn many shoes, trying to get the ultimate solution for my problem feet and I am confident that Freet have given me my own personal miracle. Highly recommended!

Great allround shoes that are light and cool

Great allround shoes that are light and cool. I use them for running and everyday. This is the third pair I'm getting. For running the soles wear down at the midfoot and ankle after just over a year once or twice <7km road runs per week, so keen to compare to taiga 3, which hopefully are more durable. Bit pricey for a recycled plastic shoe, but they're good.

Great shoe!

I love these shoes. I have been wearing barefoot shoes for over a year now and couldn’t even stand to wear my expensive on clouds anymore. I love that this model is slip on with no ties and they’re very comfortable. I usually wear a size 10 and I got the 41 which just fits. It’s comfortable, but I certainly wouldn’t want it any smaller. They’re lightweight and very affordable. I would definitely buy this brand again.

Great with socks--very comfortable

I wish these were more comfortable barefoot, but I'm really happy with them with socks. They make me feel more stable, and have improved my gait.
