Sizing Large (i)

This shoe fits large: consider a smaller size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits large to size; if you sometimes have to go down a size, it is more likely that you may need to go down a size with this style.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All US sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.
Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

The flipflop killer :)

Perfect no socks shoe for outdoor use in hot weather, without compromising the safety of your toes. I also use it indoors in cold weather instead of flipflops.

It feels like you're not wearing shoes at all

I've had the zennor sandals for 2 months now. After reading the sizing advice and reviews, I sized down, but had to return them to get my regular size, and they fit perfectly. I guess it depends on your individual foot shape. I usually wear the zennors for "light" duty such as walks on asphalt or light trails (up to 10k), but I've also used them for trail running on hot days and on rocky beaches. When wet, they're still comfortable, though they take a while to dry (which is not an issue when it's warm out of course). Amazingly the soles are super grippy on wet rocks. I like the proper barefoot feel of these sandals. It feels like you're not wearing shoes at all and the closed toe still keeps stones out and makes your feet feel protected. Once the heel straps are in place, the sandals can easily be pulled on after loosening the elastics on top. I like that they don't have to be very tight to fit well. The fabric around the heel is really soft. Bonus points for everything being unisex and having lots of vegan options to choose from.

They fit lovely, with a nice width

I received the Zennor yesterday. I tried them on, although one person with whom I spoke at Freet and then the reviews, all saying they come up really roomy and sized down and could have sized down, that is not my experience. They are roomy, very much so, but I certainly would not have wished to down size. They fit lovely, with a nice width, had I sized down, that would not have been the case. They are very comfortable. I went out in them yesterday and so enjoyed the cool air blowing under my arch and across the exposed areas of my feet. I went out for a short while in them today; with it being an ice cold, strong wind, my feet were still just nice and comfortable and certainly did not get cold. They are very light and seem to move nicely with my feet, as if I don't really have any sandals on. Nice a soft round the heel, so no blisters or rubbing at all. Inside they are smooth on my feet. I bought a black and grey pair, so they would look nice with a dress or something a bit smarter and they certainly do. I very much like these for the lightness, comfort and air flow, without being too cold on the feet when the wind turns chilly. Another good purchase from Freet. However, if thinking of buying these and one's feet are on the wider side, I would consider staying with normal foot size.
