Sizing Large (ii)

This shoe fits large: consider a smaller size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits large to size; if you sometimes have to go down a size, it is more likely that you may need to go down a size with this style.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All US sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

I actually liked it.

I got a pair of Kelds about a year ago, and they honestly have performed really well. The best equivalent for anyone that hasn't had shoes like this is that they feel like high-tech slippers that look like shoes. Of course, though, us humans have turned all our walking surfaces into some form or another of rock, so because these are thin minimalist shoes, running requires a completely different form and while I was learning to run properly in these, I ended up with a bit of foot pain. My only other complaint is that within about a month, the little textured spots on the bottom wore off and it had perfect grip on concrete and almost none on dirt. But overall, I liked it. Additionally, despite being so thin, the sole has held up, and after a year, I've only worn halfway through the 3 mm bumps on the bottom.

Very comfortable and breathable.

These are my favourite pair of Freets I've bought so far. They are comfortable and feel quite minimal on my feet.

Quality product

Well built and comfortable. Apparently they come up small but for me they come up big (normally a 9, went for 8 and they fit will). The insole takes a little getting used to as it’s like a honeycomb type design but you can feel it on your feet

Very comfy but quite slippy

I am happy with my Kelds. I have been wearing Freets for years now, and worn several different models. Keld has a lovely wide toe box which is what I need, and they feel very comfortable. The main downside I have found is that the sole is somewhat slidey when walking on wet, smooth surfaces, such as untextured paving slabs or shop floors. Absolutely fine when not wet or when there's some texture there, but if wearing them about town on a rainy day, I have to go quite carefully sometimes to avoid slipping over.
