Sizing True (ii)

This shoe fits true to size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits true to size; so order your normal size.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All US sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

The lengths shown are the Insole lengths (the actual shoe length will be 2 or 3 mm longer). The widths are measured across the flex point of the insole. The actual width of the shoe will be 2-4mm greater at each side of the shoe.

Sizing & Fitting Help

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

Great website- great shoes

Great website, with good written verbal descriptions of the shoe. Wide variety available- fromcasual smart leather shoes and boots to activity shoes. Easily one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I have worn. Having a high instep and wide feet.. would certainly buy again.

Great comfort

Great comfort, I use these as my work shoes, when I get home and take my shoes off there is no fatigue in my feet like with other shoes. Great customer service as there was a fault with one of the laces which they rectified straight away with a new set of laces

The right shoe is significantly tighter over the instep than the left shoe

The right shoe is significantly tighter over the instep than the left shoe.
The Left shoe slips on easily - as have my other Freet shoes ('Pace' & 'Esk 2'), which are a joy to wear - and remains loose until tying the laces provides a comfortably snug fit.
The right shoe needs effort to push the foot into it - giving my toes a 'wedgy' with the sock - and is tight across the top of the foot, and painful on the outside of the big toe joint (I do not have bunions). Tying the laces simply makes the right shoe more uncomfortable.
I would have returned the shoes but needed black leather shoes for a funeral. I wore them indoors for a couple of days beforehand, which acclimatised my foot to the discomfort.
Unlike my Freet 'Pace' shoes I will avoid wearing these 'York 2' shoes, which is a pity because the left shoe is comfortable for my wide feet.
Perhaps 50% satisfied...and I did have black leather shoes on my feet for the funeral!
