Sizing True (i)

This shoe fits true to size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits true to size; so order your normal size.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All US sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.
Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

Great shoe

First time buyer of a minimal based shoe, really impressed. They do fit big, I normally wear a size 10, but had to go down to a 43, but the return was simple and speedy.

Time will tell how they hold up, but after a month, they seem to be holding up great.

I was and have always been a skeptic of health trends like barefoot shoes, but as someone who has flat feet and rarely gets on with regular shoes i gave these a go!

Wow, these were immediately the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I've been walking in them for a week on muddy dog walks and around town and have 0 pain. The grip is good, they're flexible and they fit my rather wide feet without issue.

Only negative I'd say as being much more minimal, you might your feet are more vulnerable to mud and puddles, but there are solutions to that.

Feldom after a week

A good looking shoe that should wear well. These were comfortable out of the box and fitted well. They seem a little narrower than my Connect 3s but my feet had plenty of room. The lacing is good, and actually stays knotted.

I was hoping that the slightly more aggressive lugged sole on these would work well in mucky conditions. They certainly offered more grip in wet mud than the Connect 3s but not enough to offer confidence on steeper terrain. Where they do shine is on wet grass. However, the deeper lugs also result in a bit less feel of the ground. On hardpack and solid (not loose) dry rock I do prefer the feedback I get in the Connect 3s.

On balance, these are nice shoes that I will happily wear until they wear out. However, I wanted to test this sole before purchasing hiking boots, since a shoe with the most aggressive lugs wasn’t available in my size; based on my actual experience I won’t be bothering with the hikers.
