Good while they last

I bought the Rockplates for a GR11 Part-Thruhike in the Pyrenees. I used them for about 300kms. I cut them to size to fit into my Freet Feldoms (which are great by the way).
The Rockplates worked fine for a couple of days but started tearing very quickly. I taped every new crack with ducttape and they were soon covered in it.
Still they make a significant change to protection from rocks beneath the regular insole of the Feldoms, so if Freet will figure out a way to make them last longer, I would be happy to try them again.

Hi Paulina, sorry for this, and thanks for the feedback - I think the office is replacing yours. We've got a better material (less brittle) for the next generation of Rock Plate. Regards, Andrew

I recently got the new Connect 2 and the rock plate as well. The idea and the material used is good and it should perform as intended. The flexibility to remove the plate is a nice feature. Being that the insole is removable makes this possible. However I have a few issues with it.

It will add even more stack height (obviously) unless you trim it so it fits within the stitching. (Andrew says he will start cutting them for each shoe size soon). Even then I suspect more trimming will be needed. Then since the material is very smooth your foot will slide around some, which I didn't care for. Maybe creating a texture on both surfaces will be good enough? It's something I will probably do to see the affects.

I personally would have incorporated the rock plate into the shoe instead knowing what I know now. However doing so would change the purpose of the shoe.
