I wanted these to work so badly!!!

I bought a pair of the Mudee L boots in size 45 and 46. These would be my IDEAL boots if either size fit. I was crestfallen when the 45 was too short and the 46 was too large. I loved the comfort and look of the boot, the sizing just seemed off. I tried all configurations (original insole in/ out, 6mm Ortholite in) in attempts to make it work, but it sadly didn’t.

No Need For Socks

I forgot to add in my first review, that I only wear socks when I have to, that being -10c and below before I wear them, preferring wool insoles instead, except Spring, Autumn and Summer. So on the long hikes I have mentioned, I have never worn these boots with socks. My feet stayed an even temperature, no rubbing, no rush to get them off. The toe box has a lovely width too. I could even wear toe spacers with these when I wanted to. I don't need to wear socks with any of the Freet barefoot booties and shoes and now sandals I have. This in itself is an added bonus, because the freer my feet, the less covering, the better for me.

Best Ever Walking Boots

I bought these back in February. I wore them down the woods, which is hilly, muddy when wet and a variety of uneven pathways.
I did this to get them worn in before a long hike. I found the tongue a bit thick to start with, but the comfort just improved each time. Very grippy. I could walk up a steep, muddy and wet hill, without slipping, just walked up.
Then I worse them on a ten mile hike along a coastal route. Climbed up cliffs, walked on sand, climbed over boulders on the sand and then on the trail with mixed dry mud and stones. They took a battering that day and held up so well.
By the end of the walk (my first time wearing barefoot walking boots) I had no discomfort, no rubbing, they just got more and more comfortable with wear; the thicker tongue, seemed to soften. As I have wide feet, I can lace them wider and this makes a difference.
I have since walked part of the Great glen Way, with a walking group. I have done other long walks and they certainly have been through a mixed terrain. In water, which was unavoidable, yet dry feet. They hold up well and have become more comfortable. I can honestly say, these are the most comfortable and best walking boots I have ever had, but then I have never had barefoot walking boots before.

I also really like the soft thick leather ankles on these. They do not restrict my ankle in anyway and they are not too high, just perfect for my likes. I would certainly look at getting another pair of these in the future.

Excellent purchase

Just as expected = wide, high volume, waterproof, grippy sole. The tongue is a bit thick to begin with but a few days later it sits well on the foot. Perfect so far, we'll see how the material holds up to thorns and rocks, hopefully comparable to real leather, I'm not so sure but I hope !
