I hadn't realised this shoe was made of mesh with no lining or padding when I ordered it. It wasn't what I was after at the time, but I realised it would make a great closed-toe alternative to a sandal, so I kept it.
I ordered UK8 and 9 to try. My feet are just over 26cm long, and quite narrow, but I have bunions, which makes it difficult to find well-fitting shoes: I need 10cm+ in width just below the toes, but a much tighter fit around the heel. Size 9 was a little too long and wide for me. I could have probably made it work with thicker socks and by really tightening them up, but since I decided I would use them as I would sandals, I wanted to wear them without socks. Size 8 was on the small side, but without socks and taking out the insole, I think they're going to be great for the summer.
The thin sole makes you really feel the ground, and I like that they have quick fastening elastic laces (but come with traditional laces in the box, plus a replacement plastic toggle for the elastic laces). It remains to be seen how long they last, as I bought them in September and have put them away to use in spring/summer, but they look and feel very well made. I've knocked off one star because the material they're made of is a bit stiff and scratchy - most of the other Freets I've tried are softer - but I read another review that said they quickly soften with use.
They run smaller than Citee, Pace and Connect 2, which I trialled at the same time. Tanga UK9 gave me over a cm of extra room in the front when wearing socks, which felt too roomy for me. Your milage may vary!
