Sizing True (ii)

This shoe fits true to size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits true to size; so order your normal size.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All US sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

The lengths shown are the Insole lengths (the actual shoe length will be 2 or 3 mm longer). The widths are measured across the flex point of the insole. The actual width of the shoe will be 2-4mm greater at each side of the shoe.

Sizing & Fitting Help

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

I ordered second one without hesitation.

When I first bought these shoes, I was worried about the durability of the textile eyelets and the exposed stitching inside the shoe where the sole is attached. After more than 1000 km, everything held up perfectly. The stitching is a bit rubbed on the inside, but it doesn’t affect the function or integrity of the shoe at all. The only reason I’m buying a new pair is that I completely wore out the sole.I really appreciate Freet because they are one of the few brands that make shoes that fit the shape of my feet. This model seems to have a narrower heel, which is specific to this model — the other Freet models I own are not this tight in the heel. The heel does press and irritate my Achilles for the first few days, but it settles after a bit of wear or after the first rain. At the same time, this model feels slightly more spacious in the toe box compared to the Mudee L2.
I was also surprised that the original insoles have a different shape than the OrthoLite Insole I combine them with. Overall, these shoes are excellent — breathable, lightweight, and they dry quickly. After wearing out my first pair, I ordered another one without hesitation.

Extremely comfortable

These are my first pair of barefoot shoes and I was amazed with how comfortable they are. The width is spot on, and it honestly feels like you don't even have any shoes on when wearing these. The quality is fab, and they look even better in person. I am also a big fan of the reinforced stitching around the sole. Time will tell how durable they are but I'm very pleased so far. Also I love the neutral earthy colour scheme/design of the shoe. Many other brands only seem to offer generic colors with black or white soles. The khaki green upper and brown sole are neutral enough to not be the focal point but still look very stylish. The colour pairing also helps to hide dirt/soil which is very handy.

Danum on the Fisherman's Trail ( Portugal)

I own and love several pairs of Freet shoes, but the Danum boots are definitely a standout favourite. I bought them for a long-distance coastal walk in southern Portugal, and they exceeded every expectation.

I was slightly nervous about wearing them straight out of the box without any “breaking in” time, but they felt natural and comfortable from day one, quickly moulding to my feet. Over almost 100 miles of walking, I didn’t get a single blister or sore spot.

The grip on the sole is fantastic and gave me real confidence scrambling up and down cliffs, tackling steep ascents and descents, and walking across everything from rocky paths to meadow trails.

I’d highly recommend them as a lightweight summer hiking boot. I genuinely felt sorry for some of the other hikers struggling along in heavy traditional walking boots!
