How to care for your Freet

No weather can hold us back! Whether it’s raining, sunny, snowing or muddy, our barefoot shoes are built for every adventure. Our shoes are tried & tested in the muddiest conditions, so we are keen that they can be easily cleaned to keep them looking good. This is your go-to for quick and easy care tips – because your shoes deserve some love too.

General care tips:

If your shoes are wet:

• DO take out the insoles and put in a ball of newspaper to speed up drying.
• DO NOT put next to a direct source of heat.

If you need to freshen up your shoes on the inside:

• DO wash out the inside of the shoes with warm water and mild detergent. Swirl around with your fingers or a brush, drain and rinse.
• DO take out the insoles and clean them.

We do not recommend putting your Freet in the washing machine or dryer.

How to care for different materials:

Below is a guide for how to care for your Freets based on type of material, from Leather & Microfibre to BottleYarn & CoffeeYarn.

Microfibre (Tundra, Mudee, Citee)

• Easy care after the muddiest trip!
• Simply wipe clean with a damp cloth and air dry at room temperature.
• Treat with synthetic conditioner/proofer such as Nikwax to keep the microfibre supple and water resistant.

Leather

Whether it’s Smooth or Nubuck finish, all Freet shoes are made of premium grade leather which can be cleaned, nourished and polished to maintain performance and mature beautifully.

Smooth finish (Ibex, York)

• Wipe with a clean damp cloth and treat with high quality wax oil such as Nikwax Waterproofing Wax for Leather.
• This can be done wet or dry.
• Polish to your liking.

Nubuck finish (Richmond)

• Choose your finish, whether you want polished or Nubuck:
• If you want to keep the original Nubuck finish, dry and brush with a Nubuck brush.
• If you prefer, polished, treat with wax oil and polish to a smooth finish.
• For either, wipe clean with damp cloth.

BottleYarn & CoffeeYarn (Flex, Feldom, Vibe, Tanga & Pace)

• Allow to dry and brush off dirt.
• If dirt is more ingrained, hand wash in warm water with a dab of mild detergent.
• Rinse and air dry at room temperature.
