Lovely comfy

Lovely comfy, the experience i craved, after a lifetime of clumpy "supportive" shoes.

Disappointing sole durability

First of all, I have to give them five stars for comfort and design. I’ve been wearing Freet shoes for just over two years now, and I find it really difficult to wear anything else because my feet have adapted and now reject other shoes. My old Magna Forest feels narrow now, but since a hole appeared in the sole of my Feldoms, I’ve gone back to wearing them to keep my feet dry.

To start with, both the Tanga and Feldom soles cause abrasion when worn without insoles. Personally, I prefer not to wear insoles to increase ground feel. However, after a while, I had to stop because the inside of both shoes has a textured surface rather than smooth rubber. Without insoles, this becomes abrasive and really uncomfortable on longer walks.

The other problem with the Feldom’s sole is its durability. As you can see in the picture, the sole should still have plenty of grip and many more miles left in it, but the way it’s constructed means that isn’t the case. Although the tread is 4 mm deep, the knobs seem to be hollow, so holes start appearing as soon as the tread wears down to about 1 mm. This particular pair is only seven or eight months old, and with the rainy season arriving, my feet get wet even when I’m just walking on wet, hard ground.

That’s not good. If holes appear in the sole after only seven to eight months of not very intense use, Freet’s value for money becomes a very different proposition—especially for more expensive models that use the same sole, like the Mudee or Esk. This puts me in a difficult position: I really like how comfortable these shoes are, but soles that don’t last make me question whether they’re worth the money.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We're really pleased to hear how much you love the comfort and design of your Freet shoes, but we're sorry to see the issue you've experienced with your Feldom 3 soles.

This certainly isn't the level of durability we'd expect from our footwear, and we'd really like to look into what's happened with your pair.

Please could you get in touch with our customer service team at freet@freetbarefoot.com? They'll be more than happy to help and investigate this further.

Thanks again for your feedback and for supporting Freet!
