I thought I would celebrate reaching 500km in my Skeebys with a review
I got these as I wanted to do increase my mileage but I was having issues with my Vibes not offering enough protection to my feet when I ran on non road routes.
I choose the Skeeby simply because it has the biggest stack height in the Freet range ... and it's not another black shoe to add to my collection.
When I first got them I was concerned about the upper, it was a lot more flexible than I expected and with no eyelets I was worried that over a period of time I would pull my laces through the holes. This certainly hasn't happened but it's worth pointing out, and you can see from the picture I can't tighten them up any more as the two sides of the uppers meet. I would like to feel like my heel is a little more locked in but this hasn't caused any issues.
The other minor issue I have is that when I use these on a damp day, I'm a fair weather runner so you won't see me when it's raining, they can feel a little skitish under feet due to the tread pattern. Again this hasn't caused me a problem but just something to be aware of. Saying that the soles on my Skeeby look virtually brand new compared to my Vibes (which have clocked up a similar distance).
Saying all that I love them, and it's great to be able to put some shoes that allow me to run on roads and/or trails for hours without having to worry about which shoes I should be using or having to modify a route so I don't ruin trail shoes on the road. Also if I tidy them up I can also use them as normal footwear.
If you are think of developing another shoe how about the Vibe upper and the Skeeby sole as a combination ? Looking forward to doing another review when I get to 1000km.
